Telangana Incubators & Accelerators Meet - December 2023
Telangana Incubators and Accelerators Meet (Government Program) was organised at Osmania University which was inaugurated by Prof. D. Ravinder, Hon. Vice Chancellor in presence of Prof. E. Vidya Sagar, Director and Dr. R. Hafeez Basha, CEO of Osmania Technology Business Incubator.The theme of this program was Producing Startups out of Research. It was attended by Directors, CEOs, Incubation Managers and other leading startup ecosystem players of the state. Also, Scientists from CCMB, NGRI, NEERI, etc. participated actively. Total 130+ attendees. It was discussed to create a directory of research startups.Shri. J. A. Chowdary, Former Special Chief Secretary & IT Advisor to Chief Minister graced the occasion as Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function. It was announced that India Startup Festival (ISF-2024) shall be organised at Osmania University in March 2024.Some of the colleges affiliated to Osmania University were presented with recognition awards for signing Memorandum of Association with Osmania TBI and establishing Incubation Centres at their respective campuses.St. Joseph’s Degree & PG College, King Koti; Avinash College of Commerce, L B Nagar; Vanitha Degree College, Exhibition Grounds; Aurora Degree & PG College, Chikkadpally and Methodist College of Engineering and Technology were the top 5 awardees.
Hack-Z (One Day Hackathon)
The Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and Startup Edwisely co-organized a one-day hackathon called HACK-Z on 7th October 2023 at the Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD) Building, Osmania University. There were 600+ registrations out of which around 350+ were shortlisted to participate and exhibit their computer programming skills. Students from various engineering colleges across Hyderabad, Telangana and even from other states attended the event and competed with each other. Mentors from software companies were provided to students for guiding them during solving the problem statements. Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University graced the valedictory function as the Chief Guest and handed over the awards to the winners in the presence of Prof. E. Vidya Sagar, Director OTBI; Prof. C. Srinivasulu, RUSA Coordinator; Prof. (Mrs.) B. Sandeepta, Director CFRD; Prof. A. Patrick, Public Relations Officer; Dr. R. Hafeez Basha, CEO-OTBI, Osmania University; Mr. T. Yashwanth, Founder & CEO and Mr. K. Harsha, Co-Founder of Edwisely. There were cash prizes of total Rs. 60,000/- and job opportunities in the form of internships and full time employment after graduation where Edwisely even issued them offer letters. Prof. E. Vidya Sagar announced that the top 20 teams will be provided with additional rewards such as free co-working space at OTBI, mentoring and networking support from empanelled mentors of OTBI. The event concluded with High Tea and Musical Night at outdoor Garden Area, Ground Floor, CFRD Building, Osmania University.
DST-NIDHI Prayas Scheme
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI), Osmania University & Atal Incubation Centre (AIC), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CSIR-CCMB) jointly organized an Awareness Program on DST-NIDHI PRAYAS on 14th July 2023 at the Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD), Osmania University. Prof. E. Vidya Sagar, In-charge Director, Osmania TBI welcomed the participants from various colleges who have ideas that can be converted into commercial ventures. He also briefed the different programs run by Osmania TBI namely Pre-Incubation, Incubation, Acceleration and Co-Working to support the innovators and entrepreneurs. Mr. Mir Ali and Mr. Aniket Kumar Program Coordinators from AIC CCMB were the resource persons who gave insights on the DST-NIDHI PRAYAS scheme of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoS&T), Govt. of India which is providing seed grant of up to Rs. 10 lakhs from Idea to Prototype. More than 200 students and faculty members from campus, constituent and affiliated colleges of Osmania University registered out of which around 100 have participated in the program. They were able to clarify all their doubts on the application process by interacting with the resource persons. In addition to this there will be support from Osmania TBI worth Rs. 1 lakh for innovative ideas that have the ability to disrupt the market.
MSME Idea Hackathon 2023
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and Women Entrepreneurship Hub (WE-Hub), Government of Telangana co-organized the MSME Idea Hackathon 3.0 for Women Innovators on 10th July 2023 at eClass Room, 1st Floor, Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD), Osmania University. Prof. E. Vidya Sagar, Director – Osmania TBI gave the welcome note while Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar – Osmania University presided over the program and addressed the participants as the Chief Guest for inauguration. Mrs. Usha Paliath from WE-Hub, Dr. Swathi Paidipati, Professor of Psychology, University College of Arts and Social Sciences, Osmania University and Dr. Sharath Chandra Aduri, Director – Cross Family Hospitals served as jury members to evaluate the 37+ submitted ideas. After rigorous evaluation 12 ideas were shortlisted for further evaluation by Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MoMSME). The selected ideas will receive a grant of up to Rs. 15 lakhs from Government of India and additional support of up to Rs. 1 crore to set-up a plant or establishing infrastructure and facilities at the Host Institution i.e. Osmania University for benefit of startups.
IDEATHON – Grand Finale
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and FindHope (an impact startup for student mental health) co-organized the Grand Finale of IDEATHON on 1st July 2023 at eClass Room, 1st Floor, Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD), Osmania University. This was in continuation to series of events conducted on 10th June 2023 at OU campus followed by Ideathon at some of the affiliated colleges including CBIT, Lords, etc. Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar of OU presided over the Valedictory Function and handed over the prizes to the winners in presence of Col. B. S. Rao, CEO – SRiX, S R University, Warangal; Dr. Umakanta Choudhury, Executive Director Retd., BHEL R&D and Director I&I, CBIT and Prof. E. Vidya Sagar, Director of Osmania TBI. It was also announced by the Registrar that the top 10 winners will also get benefited with Incubation support worth 1 Lakh that includes co-working space and mentoring by academic and industry mentors for their respective start-up ideas. Mr. E. Tharun Sai, Founder of FindHope presented cash prize of Rs. 30,000/- for the top 3 winners along with a consolation prize, Winners of the Ideathon were Mr. Ramanansri Aiyar from SPIT Bombay, Ms. Swaraali Sharma from CBIT, Mr. Aviral Sinha from IIM Calcutta and Ms. Sanjuktha Naidu from Dr. BRKR Government Medical College.
IDEATHON – Empowering minds with AI
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and FindHope (an impact startup for student mental health) co-organized an IDEATHON on 10th June 2023 at eClass Room, 1st Floor, Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD) Building, Osmania University. Out of 350+ applicants around 30 were shortlisted to present their ideas and share their experiences towards the usage of mental health chatbot Khushi. The panel of judges evaluated the participants based on their presentations, ideas, empathy, and feasibility and selected the top 5 finalists, namely, Ms. B. S. Sanjuktha Naidu, Mr. Raghuraj Regalla, Ms. Asma Fatima, Ms. Chenna Gnana Prasuna and Ms. Likitha Madan. These five qualified for the last and final round of evaluation to be held on 1st July 2023 at same venue.
Summer Internship / Field Trip to T-Hub & T-Works
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) conducted one month Summer Internship on Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship during 8th May to 7th June 2023. The program was aimed at providing a platform to the participants to not only learn the art of becoming an Entrepreneur but also guide and encourage them to come up with their own ideas and develop these into a commercially viable model. The participants were also taken for a Field Trip to all the Centres-of-Excellence of Osmania University, National Centre for Additive Manufacturing (NCAM), T-Hub and T-Works. Mr. Srinivas Taluka, Vice President, T-Hub distributed the Internship completion certificates on the last day of the Summer Internship.
TechTalk on building Student Start-up?
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and Human Capital Development Centre (HCDC), Osmania University in association with Glocal After School (GAS) which is part of the Swadeshi Abhiyan – Made in Nepal organized a TechTalk on “Building your first student startup from scratch” by Mr. Rudhvik Dharamkar, Founder & CEO, Fleckor Media LLP on 17th March 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at eClass Room, 1st Floor, Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD) Building.
National Science Day Celebrations
National Science Day (NSD 2023) was celebrated at Osmania University on 28th February 2023 to commemorate the discovery of “Raman Effect” by Nobel Laurate and Bharat Ratna Sir C V Raman. In light of India’s G20 presidency this year’s theme was “Global Science for Global Wellbeing” under which Startup Ideation Program was conducted during 02-03 March 2023 which was catalyzed and supported by National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and Telangana State Council of Science and Technology (TSCOST), Department of Environment, Forests, Science and Technology (EFS&T), Government of Telangana. The participants of this program visited Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and Atal Incubation Centre, CSIR-CCMB where they were briefed on Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship.
TechTalk on Technology & Entrepreneurship
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and Alumni Association, University College of Engineering, Osmania University organized a TechTalk on 21st December 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on the topic “Technology and Entrepreneurship” by the Distinguished Alumni Dr. P. K. Menon, Founder & CEO, Optimal Synthesis Inc., USA and Visiting Scientist, NASA. Earlier he also served Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) before moving to NASA. Osmania University is also going to organize the Global Alumni Meet (GAM) during 03-04 January 2023 to bring the esteemed university alums from worldwide back to their alma matter and forge connections with present students & faculty to explore opportunities for engagement, contribution & growth.
Summit on Education 5.0
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) and Centre for Digital Education Technology, Osmania University in association with uLektz Learning Solutions Pvt. Ltd. is co-organized the National Summit 2022 on “Education 5.0 for Augmentation of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs)” on 17th December 2022 at e-classroom, first floor, Central Facilities for Research and Development (CFRD) Building Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor, Osmania University presided over the summit and inaugurated in the presence of Prof. RVR Krishna Chalam, Vice Chancellor, Woxsen University; Shri. Navin Mittal IAS, Commissioner – Collegiate and Technical Education, Government of Telangana; Prof. K. Stevenson, Director – Centre for Digital Education Technology and Prof. Srinivasulu Chelmala, Director – Osmania TBI. The summit was attended by the Principals, Directors & Deans of various colleges in Telangana where the industry professionals addressed the academic leaders on Education 5.0 and encouraged them to implement the same at their respective campuses with support from corporate companies and the Government. Shri. Mihir Kumar Parial, Director Retd., Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India was the chief guest for valedictory function who also handed over the recognition awards to those who have committed to implement Education 5.0
Panel Discussion
Ashoka School of Business (ASB) conducted a Panel Discussion on Emerging Technologies in Management Courses on 15th November 2022 at Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) in which Mr. Rameswar Mandali, Founder & CEO – Skillmonks; Ms. Stanley Anuja, Founder & CEO – Aisidore Technologies; Mr. Mohammed Sajeed, Founder & CEO – Robokalam and Mr. RSN Murthy, Founder & CEO – Loyal Telesystems Pvt. Ltd. participated as the esteemed panel members and Prof. G. Swathi Kumari, Dean ASB moderated the discussion. It was attended by 75+ students of ASB who are pursuing their Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in technology blended management courses like Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Marketing and Business Analytics, Finance and Fintech, HR and HR Analytics and Healthcare Management. Students got chance to interact directly with Startup Founders who are incubated at OTBI.
Telangana Incubators & Accelerators Meet - July 2022
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) hosted the July 2022 edition of Telangana Incubators & Accelerators Meet at Central Facilities for Research & Development (CFRD) Building, Osmania University campus on 26th July 2022. It is an initiative of Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), Government of Telangana so that incubators in the state do not work in isolation but instead collaborate for the benefit of startups across the ecosystem. The meeting was presided by Prof. D. Ravinder, Vice Chancellor who addressed the incubators and startups in presence of Prof. P. Laxminarayana, Registrar; Prof. B. Reddya Naik, OSD to VC; and other participants from across the state. There was also Product Expo where the Innovators and Startups exhibited their innovations, products and services.

Meet the Venture Capitalist
Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) hosted Dr. Satyanarayana Vaddi, Managing Partner & CEO, FinAnomics Capital India on 10th June 2022. Dr. Vaddi who is skilled in Private Equity Advisory, Mergers & Acquisitions Advisory, Structured Finance & Debt Syndication interacted with the startups of OTBI and shared his views on how startup valuation is done, parameters, myths and misconceptions in a valuation process.
