Osmania University is a 105+ years old Public State University of the Government of Telangana which is 7th oldest in India & 3rd oldest in South India with a campus of 1600 acres and 3 lakh+ students making it one of the largest higher education systems in India. Osmania Technology Business Incubator (OTBI) is an initiative of OU Idea Labs Foundation which is incorporated as Section 8 company (non-profit) and funded by the Ministry of Education (MoE) under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA 2.0) scheme of the Government of India. It was earlier established in 2017 at University College of Engineering (UCE), Osmania University and later in 2019 it was scaled up to University level with the Vice Chancellor himself serving as its Chairman & Managing Director. The Board of Directors comprises of representatives from Government, Industry, Academia and Alumni. 

Osmania University is also recognized as Host Institute (HI) and OTBI as Business Incubator (BI) by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.
